【Tsurugisawa】
Long admired by gorge enthusiasts as one of the most serious and demanding gorges in Japan, Tsurugisawa is a true benchmark of Japanese gorge exploration.

Its core section, the **Tsurugisawa Great Waterfall**, lies within a gorge whose sidewalls rise 300 meters high, and contains a massive nine-tiered cascade with a total drop of 150 meters.

In the past, this gorge was explored through fierce and committed traverses across its sidewalls. Now, modern *sawaya* return to one of Japan’s most formidable gorges, using climbing techniques to establish a new ascent line.
