Countless unknown gorges were still hidden in Shikoku.

From lush green gorges covered in ferns unique to Japan’s warm southern climate, to a blue gorge containing a 50-meter waterfall—the largest waterfall drop in Shikoku found within a gorge*—and a yellow gorge where eroded sidewalls create a space almost like a cave, this book documents truly unexplored gorges opened by the gorge exploration collective **GORGE CLUB**.

These are canyons with no information on Google, in the *Nihon Tozan Taikei*, or in other major Japanese mountain stream references—a collection of exploration records from places where the unknown still genuinely remains.

This is a record of gorge exploration in Shikoku. It features 27 routes, including 16 newly explored routes*, across 78 pages. In addition to exploration records, it also includes route reports with ascent diagrams for some of Shikoku’s most serious and representative gorges, including Ashitani-gawa, Takataki Gorge, and the right branch of Kame-tsubo-dani.

*Routes not listed on the internet, social media, *Nihon Tozan Taikei*, or *Sawa 100*. This may include gorges for which only fragmentary records exist, such as partial waterfall photographs.
