GORGE CLUBが新しく提案する「ULウェットスーツ」は、渓谷での活動のために選び抜いた、超薄手・高保温のウェットスーツです。

一般的なウェットスーツと大きく異なるのは、肌に触れる面に、いわゆるラバースキンと呼ばれる防風性・耐水性に優れた素材を採用していること。水や風による冷えを抑え、わずか1mmという薄さでありながら、高い耐寒性能を発揮します。

The new **UL Wetsuit** proposed by GORGE CLUB is an ultra-thin, high-insulation wetsuit carefully selected for activities in gorges and canyons.

What sets it apart from ordinary wetsuits is the material used on the skin-side surface: a windproof, water-resistant material commonly known as **rubber skin**. It helps reduce heat loss caused by water and wind, delivering excellent cold protection despite its remarkable 1 mm thickness.

通常、ラバースキンは保温性に優れる一方で摩擦が強く、着脱にはベビーパウダーなどの併用が欠かせません。そのため、沢登りやキャニオニングのように、山の中で状況に応じて着脱するアクティビティには不向きでした。

しかし、このULウェットスーツは、ラバースキン表面に特別な加工を施すことで、ベビーパウダーなどを使わずに、容易に着脱できる仕様になっています。

薄く、温かく、そして動きやすい。
これが、ULウェットスーツ最大の特徴です。

Normally, rubber skin offers excellent heat retention, but its high friction makes it difficult to put on and take off without using baby powder or a similar aid. For this reason, it has not been well suited to activities such as sawanobori or canyoning, where gear often needs to be adjusted or removed in the mountains depending on the situation.

This UL Wetsuit, however, features a special surface treatment on the rubber skin, allowing it to be put on and taken off easily without the use of baby powder or other aids.

Thin, warm, and easy to move in.
That is the defining feature of the UL Wetsuit.

従来のウェットスーツでは、腕の上げ下げ、ハイステップ、足を大きく開く動きなど、渓谷内での激しい動作において、どうしても動きの制約がありました。

ULウェットスーツは、まるで肌着のように身体に自然にフィットし、着ていることを意識させないほどの伸縮性を持っています。保温性を確保しながら、身体の動きを妨げず、渓谷内でのパフォーマンスを最大限に引き出します。

また、非常に薄手で伸縮性に優れているため、気温や水温に応じて重ね着することも可能です。2枚重ねで着用しても動きにくさはほとんどなく、抜群の温かさと快適性を両立します。

With conventional wetsuits, movements such as raising and lowering the arms, high-stepping, or opening the legs wide can often feel restricted during the intense movements required in gorges and canyons.

The UL Wetsuit fits the body naturally, almost like a base layer, and offers such high stretch that you barely notice you are wearing it. While maintaining warmth, it allows the body to move freely and helps bring out your best performance in the canyon.

Because it is extremely thin and highly stretchable, it can also be layered according to air and water temperature. Even when worn in two layers, it remains easy to move in, combining outstanding warmth with excellent comfort.

GORGE CLUBでは、2023年頃からこのULウェットスーツのテストを開始しました。以降、2年以上にわたり、日本国内最難関クラスの渓谷から、世界的にも難度の高いワールドクラスの渓谷まで、数多くのフィールドで実際に使用してきました。

より険しい渓谷を、より安全に探検するために私たちは、装備の一つひとつを見直し、試行錯誤を重ねてきました。その中でも、特に効果を発揮した装備の一つが、このULウェットスーツです。

軽く、温かいということ。それは、難しい渓谷に挑むときだけでなく、あらゆる渓谷での活動を、より安全に、より快適にしてくれるということです。

GORGE CLUB began testing this UL Wetsuit around 2023. Since then, over more than two years, we have used it in a wide range of real field conditions—from some of the most difficult canyons in Japan to world-class canyons known for their high level of technical challenge.

To explore more demanding canyons more safely, we have re-examined every piece of gear we use, refining our equipment through repeated testing and trial and error. Among all of them, this UL Wetsuit has proven to be one of the most effective.

Lightweight and warm.
That means more than just an advantage when taking on difficult canyons. It makes every activity in the canyon safer and more comfortable.

使用について

ULウェットスーツは、レインウェアやシャツなどの下に着用するインナーとして設計された製品です。アウターとして着用した場合、擦れなどにより生地に穴や破れが生じる可能性があります。

一方で、レインウェアなどのアウターの下に着用する、本来想定している使い方においては、十分な耐久性を確認しています。GORGE CLUBでは2023年に購入した個体を、現在もフィールドで継続使用しています。国内外の険しい渓谷や長時間行動を含む高強度な環境での使用を重ねていますが、アウターで保護した状態であれば、今なお現役の装備として使用できています。

また、本製品はラバースキン面とファブリック面、どちらを表にしても使用できます。ラバースキン面を肌に密着させることで、より高い保温性能を発揮します。一方で、夏場など高い保温性を必要としない時期には、裏返して着用することで温度調整が可能です。

The UL Wetsuit is designed to be worn as an inner layer underneath rainwear, shirts, or similar outer garments. If worn as an outer layer, the fabric may develop holes or tears due to abrasion or similar wear.

On the other hand, when used as intended—worn underneath an outer layer such as rainwear—we have confirmed that it offers sufficient durability. At GORGE CLUB, we are still using units purchased in 2023 in the field today. They have been used repeatedly in high-intensity environments, including difficult canyons in Japan and overseas, as well as long-duration activities. As long as they are protected by an outer layer, they remain fully usable as active field equipment.

This product can also be worn with either the rubber-skin side or the fabric side facing outward. Wearing it with the rubber-skin side against the skin provides higher insulation. In warmer seasons, or when strong insulation is not required, it can be worn inside out to help regulate temperature.
