マレーシア・ボルネオ島にそびえる、東南アジア最高峰キナバル山。

その北面、山頂直下から切れ落ちる巨大な花崗岩の壁に、氷河の侵蝕によって刻まれた異様な渓谷があります。

「Low's gully（ローズガリー）」です。

源頭部の側壁は最大800メートル。

白い花崗岩のビッグウォールが垂直に立ち上がり、その足元には、深くえぐられた巨大なゴルジュが走ります。

あまりにも谷が深いため、地形図はもちろん、衛星写真など、いかなる手段をもってしても、その内部を正確に知ることはできません。

過去には大量遭難や数多くの撤退など、数々のエピソードが残されており、世界中の渓谷探検家たちを惹きつけ続けてきた、伝説的な渓谷です。

本書は、そのローズガリー内部の全貌を、世界で初めて詳細に記録した写真集です。

2026年、日本隊による遠征によって、世界初踏査・世界初公開となった源頭部大ゴルジュ内部の写真も収録。

Mount Kinabalu rises from Borneo, Malaysia, as the highest peak in Southeast Asia.

On its north face, beneath the summit, an extraordinary gorge has been carved by glacial erosion into the massive granite walls that plunge down from the mountain.

This is **Low’s Gully**.

In its upper reaches, the sidewalls rise up to 800 meters.

Towering white granite big walls stand vertically overhead, while a deeply carved, immense gorge runs at their base.

The valley is so deep that its interior cannot be accurately understood by any means—not from topographic maps, not from satellite imagery, and not from any other remote source.

With a history marked by major accidents, repeated retreats, and countless stories of failed attempts, Low’s Gully has continued to captivate gorge explorers from around the world. It is a truly legendary gorge.

This book is the first photo book in the world to document the interior of Low’s Gully in detail.
