さらに本作では、GORGE CLUBが多大な影響を受けてきた探検家たちによる寄稿を4本収録。
「不世出の渓谷探検家・大西良治」氏、「日本一映える沢ヤ・阿南春平」氏ら、第一線で活躍する探検家たちの視点から、渓谷観光をお楽しみください。

【Second Volume of the Gorge Tourism Series】
The second volume in the series features a carefully selected collection of classic gorges that have long been admired by gorge enthusiasts in Japan, including **Yanagimata-dani** and **Kitamata-dani** in Toyama’s Kurobe area. The cover features **Ono Tsubakiyama-gawa**, one of Shikoku’s finest gorges, whose full character was revealed through GORGE CLUB’s exploration in 2022.

This volume also includes four contributed essays by explorers who have had a major influence on GORGE CLUB.

Enjoy *Gorge Tourism* through the perspectives of leading explorers, including **Ryoji Onishi**, a once-in-a-generation gorge explorer, and **Shunpei Anan**, one of Japan’s most visually striking *sawaya*.

深い谷を縫うように流れる清流、そそり立つ岩壁、霧にけむる緑の斜面、深い碧を宿した釜、轟々と音を立てて流れ落ちる瀑布 ──写真は、そうした渓谷の息を呑むような美しさや目の醒めるような迫力を刹那に伝える力を持っています。

これまでの渓谷に関する書籍の多くは、沢ヤや滝ヤと呼ばれる愛好家たちによる専門的な視点から綴られたものが中心でした。そうした書籍は記録として価値のあるものですが、一般読者にとっては難解で、渓谷の魅力に触れる「きっかけ」としては、やや親しみにくかったように感じます。

この写真集は、難しい説明を抜きにして、渓谷という自然の造形美を「観光」していただくことを目的としています。
言葉よりも、まずは目で見て、感じてほしい。渓谷の魅力は、決して一部の愛好家だけのものではありません。
その美しさに心を奪われる、普遍的な魅力を内包していると思っています。私たちが、はじめて渓谷の魅力に心を動かされた時のように。

Many of the moments when we are moved by nature come when we encounter a landscape.

Clear streams winding through deep valleys, towering rock walls, mist-covered green slopes, pools holding a deep blue glow, waterfalls roaring as they plunge downward—photography has the power to capture, in an instant, the breathtaking beauty and striking force of such gorges.

Until now, many books about gorges have been written from the specialized perspective of enthusiasts known in Japan as *sawaya* or *takiya*—people devoted to mountain streams and waterfalls. These books are valuable as records, but for general readers, they can feel difficult to approach, and perhaps not always the most accessible gateway into the appeal of gorges.

This photo book was created with the simple purpose of allowing readers to “tour” the natural sculptural beauty of gorges, without the need for technical explanations.

Before words, we want you to see and feel them with your own eyes.
The appeal of gorges does not belong only to a small group of enthusiasts. I believe they hold a universal beauty capable of capturing anyone’s heart—just as they once captured ours when we first encountered their wonder.

Through this book, we hope that more people will come to discover the beauty and fascination of gorges.
